Licensing & Usage

Last updated: 2026-10-04

Voro is proprietary software. This page summarizes the current usage rules for the Voro beta: the Engine, hosts, authoring tools, compilers, first-party modules, documentation, and related materials supplied with a release.

The authoritative text ships in the package as LICENSE_VORO_BETA.txt. If that file, a direct written agreement, or another written agreement says something different, that document controls.

Licensor: Lyell Hintz, operating under the brand Dotsimulate. Contact: licensing@dotsimulate.com.

  • Paid work, public demonstrations and personal projects are allowed.
  • Your original work stays yours. Voro claims no ownership or royalty merely because you used it.
  • You may inspect and modify the source supplied to you for licensed use, including with coding assistants, and create and fork modules.
  • An authorized beta user may run this beta on up to five computers under their control at a time, each signed in with their personal Voro code. Releasing a computer from Voro frees its place.
  • Do not redistribute the Voro installation, runtime, compiler, host implementation or first-party library, except as this page and the package license expressly allow.
  • Third-party software, models, fonts, assets, TouchDesigner and other hosts keep their own terms. See Third-party notices.

Your beta invitation or written authorization names the covered user or users. Receiving a forwarded installation does not itself grant a Voro license. Other people who author or independently operate Voro need their own authorization.

Readable source does not make Voro open source.

You may share, sell, publish and deliver your original modules, projects and outputs. Recipients of renders, recordings or other outputs that do not require Voro do not need a Voro license. No Voro credit is required.

Preserve attribution required by separately licensed material, and do not imply endorsement of your work by Dotsimulate or another party.

Original modules you author are yours to share and sell.

You may exchange modified included modules with users who are independently authorized to use those same modules and their required packs.

You may share and sell modified versions of eligible first-party module source. For this beta, eligible source is the first-party module source supplied through Fork Module, or source expressly designated for sharing and resale in accompanying module terms. That permission covers that module source and its first-party presets. It does not cover the compiler, host implementation, SDK infrastructure, runtime binaries, model weights, or other files merely because their source is readable.

A recipient may obtain an eligible modified module before obtaining Voro. Before using it with Voro, they must obtain the appropriate Voro and pack rights. State those requirements in your listing. You are not required to check a buyer’s Patreon membership, account or license. Selling a module does not grant a Voro or pack license.

Keep applicable notices, identify your modifications, and do not present your version as an official Voro release. Material that already has its own reusable or open-source license may be distributed as that license permits. The Voro Generator Starter is one such case: it is MIT-licensed, separately from this beta.

Your own operation of Voro during a paid engagement or performance is included.

A client who independently operates Voro after handoff needs its own Voro authorization or a deployment agreement. Beta access does not automatically cover that client.

Delivering outputs that do not require Voro does not require a deployment license.

Permission to use the supplied beta build has no scheduled expiry, subject to the terms. The build confirms its license with a lease that lasts 30 days and renews automatically whenever the computer is online, so it needs an internet connection at least once every 30 days. A running graph is never stopped by an ending lease. Dotsimulate renews beta leases for the life of the beta and declines to renew only for a shared account or a breach of these terms. Future pricing or activation arrangements do not by themselves change the rights granted for this build. Later releases are governed by their accompanying terms. There is no promise of future releases, updates, paid packs, hosted services, support or a compatibility period.

Unless the package license or a separate written agreement says otherwise, do not:

  • redistribute, mirror, sublicense or sell the Voro installation, runtime, compiler, host implementation or first-party library;
  • share your Voro code, private download credentials or license leases;
  • misrepresent licensing or attribution notices;
  • present a fork as an official Voro release.

This is beta software. Features, interfaces and compatibility may change. Keep backups and test the build for your intended work. The package license states the warranty and liability terms.

Organizational coverage, client deployment, or additional permissions: get in touch before assuming.
