Voro beta
Voro is one family of operators for TouchDesigner: sound, pictures, geometry and control in one menu, running on your GPU next to the nodes you write yourself. Voro Lab comes with it, for making graphs with a coding agent from ordinary files.
The beta is by invitation. Each tester gets a download and a personal Voro code.
Current drop
Section titled “Current drop”| Drop | announced with the first invitations |
| Released | soon |
| Download | The link comes with your invitation. |
Each drop is a complete folder: you never patch an old one. A newer drop is announced here and on the Key page of the Voro package in TouchDesigner.
Voro needs Windows, an NVIDIA RTX GPU with driver 580 or newer, and TouchDesigner, which is installed and licensed separately.
Install and sign in
Section titled “Install and sign in”- Extract the whole drop into a folder you intend to keep.
- Run
install_voro_tensor.bat. Paste your Voro code when it asks (VORO-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). It registers the drop for TouchDesigner and prepares the renderer for your GPU; the first run takes about ten minutes. - In TouchDesigner, load
tox/voro_package_<version>.toxfrom the drop. The installer prints its full path.
You can also enter your code later, with Enter Voro Code on the Key page of the Voro package in TouchDesigner or in Voro Studio’s settings. Install has the details.
Signing in needs the internet once. Voro then keeps a 30-day lease on the computer and renews it by itself whenever you are online, so it keeps working offline in between and never stops a running graph. One code works on up to five of your computers at a time; Release This Machine frees one. The lease lives in %LOCALAPPDATA%\dotsimulate\voro, never in a project, so your .toe and graph files stay shareable. Your code is yours alone.
How updates work
Section titled “How updates work”New drops come often during the beta. The Key page names the drop you run and says Update available when a newer one is out; Open Download Page brings you here.
- Extract the new drop into a new folder, beside the old one.
- Run its
install_voro_tensor.bat. It does not ask for your code again: your sign-in carries over. - Close TouchDesigner, Voro Studio and any Voro Lab windows, then delete the old folder. The installer lists the old folders it found.
- Reopen your projects. They pick up the new drop.
A project reopened while the old folder is still there keeps using it, so delete the old folder first. The Kernel FX runtime that bootstrap_voro_kernel_fx_runtime.ps1 builds lives outside the drop and stays.
What Voro sends
Section titled “What Voro sends”When you sign in and when the lease renews, Voro sends Dotsimulate’s licensing server your Voro code (at sign-in only), a one-way hash of the computer’s Windows machine id, the computer’s name and the Voro build. It sends nothing about your projects. Privacy has the rest.
Licence
Section titled “Licence”The beta licence ships in each drop as LICENSE_VORO_BETA.txt, and Licensing & Usage summarizes it. Paid work, public demonstrations and personal projects are allowed, and your work stays yours.
Write to support@dotsimulate.com or post in voro-support on the Dotsimulate Discord. Include the drop name (on the Key page, or drop in release.manifest.json), your GPU and driver, and your TouchDesigner version.
Lost your code, or think someone else has it? Write to licensing@dotsimulate.com. A code can be replaced without signing your computers out.
