Conductor

Conductor gives a generative set a sense of form. Over phrases and sections it shapes five smoothed macro signals, tension, energy, register, brightness, and motion, that the rest of the patch subscribes to. Instead of noodling at a flat level, your sound and visuals can build, peak, and resolve together from one musical intent. This is an experimental, evolving creative module.

Wire a timeline clock into Input 0, then optionally add a scale and chord so the form can react to harmony. Pick a Form, set the section and phrase lengths, and subscribe instruments, effects, and visuals to the five macro outputs. Map tension to filter or dissonance, energy to density, register and brightness to voicing and tone, and motion to movement.

  • Input 0: timeline timeline clock. Required.
  • Input 1: scale scale context. Optional.
  • Input 2: chord_state chord context for harmonic tension. Optional.
  • Output 0: tension macro control lane.
  • Output 1: energy macro control lane.
  • Output 2: register macro control lane.
  • Output 3: brightness macro control lane.
  • Output 4: motion macro control lane.
  • Form: overall shape. arc, build_drop, aaba, terrace, through, or pulse.
  • Sectionbars, Sections, Phrasebars: the lengths that define the form.
  • Climax: where the peak lands within the form.
  • Intensity and Floorlevel: the height of the peak and the resting level.
  • Phraseamt: how much phrase-level shaping rides on top of the section arc.
  • Harmonicfollow: how strongly spicy chords raise tension.
  • Registerdepth, Brightnessdepth, Motionamt: how far each macro travels.
  • Smoothms: smoothing time so the macros move musically.
  • Seed: repeatable variation.
  • Conductor produces no sound on its own; it drives other nodes through the five macro lanes.
  • Subscribe both audio and visuals to the same macros so the whole set moves as one.
  • Raise Harmonicfollow when you want harmony changes to push the energy of the set.
