Groove

Groove is a drum-pattern generator. Driven by the timeline, it plays a kit as note lanes, one channel per drum voice, ready for a drum instrument. It covers steady grooves, odd math-rock patterns, broken beats, and dense blasts, with per-voice level and fill controls so you can shape the kit balance.

Wire a timeline clock into Input 0, choose a Mode, and route the out note lanes into Drum or any note-lane drum instrument. Set Density and Complexity for the overall feel, then balance the kit with the per-voice gains. Fillheat controls how often fills break up the pattern.

  • Input 0: timeline timeline clock. Required, sets the beat grid.
  • Output 0: out emits drum triggers as note lanes, one channel per drum note.
  • Mode: groove, mathrock, broken, or blast.
  • Density and Complexity: how full and how intricate the pattern is.
  • Gate: trigger length.
  • Fillheat: how often and how strongly fills appear.
  • Kick, Snare, Hats, Toms, Claps, Perc: per-voice levels for shaping the kit.
  • Hatrate: hat subdivision multiplier.
  • Oddkick: allow extra off-grid kick placements.
  • Seed: repeatable pattern generation.
  • Groove outputs note lanes, so pair it with a drum instrument that reads one channel per note.
  • Lower Complexity and Fillheat for a steady backbeat, raise them for busier, more broken patterns.
  • Seed makes a generated pattern repeatable from run to run.
