Drift

Drift is a sustained, evolving texture instrument. Where Synth handles subtractive leads and Deep Beast owns the low end, Drift fills the space with pads, drones, atmospheres, and slowly morphing timbres. An internal LFO and random walk keep the sound moving without external modulation.

Wire note_voices_f32_v1 into the voices input from MIDI Note, a chord voicer, a progression, or any note-voice source. Hold notes and let Drift evolve the timbre over time. Wire the stereo audio output to Device Out, an effect chain, or a mixer.

  • Input 0: voices — note_voices_f32_v1 (required). Gate, pitch, velocity, and aftertouch per voice.
  • Output 0: out — stereo audio (PCM f32).
  • Mode — Voice character: warm (detuned multi-osc pad with waveform morphing), breath (formant-drifting vocal pad that wanders through vowels), vapor (pitched resonant noise, melodic breathy texture), drone (sub-harmonic beating mass with interference patterns), swarm (micro-voice cloud, each oscillator drifts independently), fold (sine wavefolder with drifting fold depth, pure to complex).
  • Gain — Output level.
  • Tone — Post-synthesis brightness filter cutoff.
  • Warmth — Waveform character. In warm/swarm modes, morphs from saw through triangle to sine. In breath/vapor modes, blends pitched oscillator vs noise excitation.
  • Depth — LFO modulation depth.
  • Rate — LFO speed (0.02-3 Hz range).
  • Drift — Random walk intensity. Higher values make the timbre wander further from center.
  • Movement — Mode-specific motion control. In breath mode, drives the vowel position cycle. In vapor/swarm/fold, controls spectral scatter or fold range.
  • Drive — Post-synthesis saturation.
  • Width — Stereo pan spread across voices.
  • Spread — Per-oscillator detune spread in cents.
  • Velsens — Velocity sensitivity (0 = uniform level, 1 = full velocity response).
  • Attack / Release — Amplitude envelope times (squared scaling for musical feel).
  • Limiter — Output safety limiter.
  • Up to 8 polyphonic voices with per-voice LFO phase offset for natural detuning across the chord.
  • Each voice has a DC blocker to prevent offset drift from the random walk modulator.
  • The breath mode cycles through ah, ee, and oo formants using three bandpass resonators.
  • Fold mode uses a sinusoidal wavefolder whose depth drifts autonomously, creating ever-changing harmonic content from a pure sine source.
