Guard
Purpose
Section titled “Purpose”Guard limits peaks across all input channels together, fades in from silence after a reset, and replaces non-finite samples with zero. Its meters measure the audio leaving the operator, including any gain reduction.
Place Guard from the Audio view of the Voro menu, under Audio. Connect the final mix to in and out to Device Out. Start with the default Ceiling of -3 dB and Rampinms of 300 ms. Use Mute to silence this output without changing the upstream mix.
Inputs and outputs
Section titled “Inputs and outputs”in, required. Mono, stereo or multichannel audio.out. Audio with the same channel count as the input.
Controls
Section titled “Controls”- Ceiling sets the peak limit in dB, from -60 to 0.
- Rampinms sets the fade-in duration after initialization or reset, from 1 to 5000 ms.
- Releasems sets how long the limiter takes to recover after a peak, from 5 to 1000 ms.
- Mute silences the output with a short ramp.
Watch out_peak, out_rms and gr_db to see the output level and gain reduction. Frequent limiting is a reason to lower the upstream mix. The current guard always removes non-finite samples, even though the parameter list still includes Scrubnan.
