Trigger

Trigger is the temporal logic operator for control signals. It converts one kind of event into another: an edge into a fixed-length gate, a gate into a toggle, one trigger into a burst of several, or a stream of events into a count. Delay, hold, repeat, and clock division shape the timing. It is a control-signal operator, not audio DSP.

Wire any control signal into in and set Threshold for where an event begins. Pick a Mode for the conversion, then shape timing with Delay, Hold, and Repeat. Wire the value output onward to whatever the event should drive, or into another control op’s trigger or gate input.

  • Input 0: in — the control signal to detect events on. Optional.
  • Output 0: value — the converted signal: the gate, toggle state, or burst pulses depending on Mode.
  • Outputs 1-4: phase, cycle, pulse, active — the standard control source companions, reporting event pulses, the running event count, hold progress, and whether the op is currently active.
  • Threshold — input level that counts as an event.
  • Delay — wait time between the input event and the output firing, in seconds.
  • Hold — how long the output stays high per event.
  • Repeat — when above zero, re-fires the output at this interval while the input stays high.
  • Mode — edge (fixed pulse per rising edge), gate (follow the input as a clean gate), toggle (flip state per event), burst (fire Burstcount pulses per event), or count (count events).
  • Divide and Multiply — event-rate division and multiplication, so the output fires every Nth event or several times per event.
  • Burstcount — number of pulses per event in burst mode.
  • Divide is an event clock divider: Divide 4 in edge mode fires once per four input events.
  • Toggle mode turns any momentary source into an on/off switch.
  • Chain Trigger before Envelope to add delay, division, or bursts to a gate before it reaches the envelope.
