Purpose

Speakers describes where the loudspeakers are and provides their level trims and delays to Render. It can generate a ring, quad, octagon, dome or line, or read custom coordinates. A separate audio output tests individual speaker channels.

Use

Place Speakers from the Audio view of the Voro menu, under Other. Choose a Preset and connect layout to Render’s layout. Set the dimensions to match your speaker positions.

To check channel order, route test to your multichannel output chain. Set Testmode to solo, choose Testspeaker, and bring up Testlevel. Use cycle to visit each speaker in turn. Return Testmode to off when finished.

Inputs and outputs

Speakers has no inputs.

• layout carries speaker positions, level trims and delays to Render.
• test carries the multichannel calibration signal. It is silent when Testmode is off.

Controls

• Preset selects ring, quad, octagon, dome, line or custom.
• Count, Radius, Height, Rotate and Domerows shape the generated layout. Quad and octagon use their fixed speaker counts.
• Custom accepts semicolon-separated rows of x,y,z,trim_db,delay_ms,zone. Each row describes one speaker. Use zeros for unused trim, delay and zone values.
• Trimall adds a level trim to every speaker, in dB. Delayall adds a delay to every speaker, in milliseconds.
• Testsignal chooses pink noise or a sine tone. Testlevel sets its level.
• Testspeaker chooses the channel for solo, starting at 0. Cycletime sets the time spent on each speaker in cycle, in seconds.

Notes

Use the same coordinates for Speakers, Room, Emitters and the listener. The layout output contains speaker data; connect test when you need an audible calibration signal.
